Privacy Policy
Tab Tamer by DHK — Last updated: May 2026
Tab Tamer is a Chrome extension that helps you manage open browser tabs. This policy explains what data the extension accesses and how it is used.
1. What We Access
Tab Tamer reads the following information from your browser using the Chrome Extensions API:
- Tab titles and URLs (to display in the popup, enable search and sorting)
- Favicon URLs (to show site icons in the tab list)
- Last-accessed timestamps (to support "Sort by Last Visited")
- Tab group membership and group metadata (color, title) for the "Group by Site" feature
2. What We Do Not Do
- We do not read or access the content of any web page you visit
- We do not collect, store, or transmit any data to a server
- We do not share any information with third parties
- We do not use analytics, tracking, or advertising
3. Local-Only Processing
All processing happens entirely within your browser. Tab data is read at the moment you open the popup and is used only to render the Tab Tamer interface. No data persists between popup sessions beyond what Chrome itself stores (e.g. your open tabs and their groups).
4. Permissions
Tab Tamer requests two Chrome permissions:
- tabs — required to read tab titles, URLs, last-accessed times, and to move or close tabs
- tabGroups — required to create, update, and disband Chrome native tab groups
No host permissions are requested. Tab Tamer never injects scripts into or reads the content of any web page.
5. Children's Privacy
Tab Tamer is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly process data from children.
6. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised "Last updated" date.
